There is nothing I like better than finding a ratty old piece of furniture and breathing new life into it, making it something beautiful. That is exactly what I did with a pair of club chairs I found at the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena. I picked them up for an unbelievable price….$30 each. Yes, you heard me, $30 per chair. For those of us who love chairs, we know that is a steal.
I have to admit, I have a chair fetish. For me, they are like jewelry for a room. They can be that final piece the pulls a space together. And since they can easily be switched out when you get bored with them, it gives you an opportunity to go out on a limb and be a little wild. That is exactly what I did here. Now, sadly, I don’t get to keep this set, they are going into a clients living room, but a little imagination made these darlings dazzle. I used fuschia suede for the seat and purple alligator vinyl for the back. I lugged the purple vinyl back from La Paz, Bolivia over two years ago. I had no idea how I was going to use it but had to have it. Somehow I managed to get it in my luggage and through customs with no issues, which was no small feat since the machine gun bearing guards at the airport dumped the entire contents of my luggage on a table to rummage through my personal goods, even my skivvies. I have been waiting to find the right use for this material and I think it found the perfect home. What do you think? Do you have it in you to be this daring?
